Coral8 and IBM Team to Deliver Complex Event Processing Software to DB2 Customers
Special Offer from Coral8 will provide free deployment license of the Coral8 Engine to DB2 9 Viper customers
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, March 14, 2007 -- Coral8, Inc., a leading provider of Complex Event Processing (CEP) software, today announced that all IBM DB2 9 Viper data server customers are eligible to receive one free deployment license of the Coral8 Engine.
Coral8 also announced it has signed a joint marketing and distribution agreement with IBM to provide thousands of Global 1000 companies, ISVs and solution providers’ access to the combined benefits of CEP technology and IBM data server software, and expand the coverage of event-driven applications using Coral8 and DB2 9.
Under the terms of the teaming agreement, IBM and Coral8 will jointly market the Coral8 Engine with DB2 9. This follows an October 16, 2006 announcement where Coral8 agreed to integrate the Coral8 Engine with DB2 9 and WebSphere MQ. The Coral8 Engine is the first CEP software product to achieve both the “Ready for DB2 Data Server Software” and “pureXML” recognition within the IBM DB2 software partner program.
“The advanced information management software from IBM and keen knowledge of the DB2 9 customers make them well-suited to work with the Coral8 CEP technology,” said Terry Cunningham, CEO of Coral8. “Reaching out to this audience will dramatically expand the reach of event-driven applications using Coral8 and DB2 in enterprises and the solution provider channel.”
Currently, IBM DB2 9 customers have been able to develop CEP applications by downloading the freely available Coral8 Developer Edition. As part of this new agreement, existing DB2 9 customers can now receive one free Coral8 Engine production license for deployment of their first CEP application. This will allow DB2 9 customers to experience the development and business benefits of CEP functionality in a live environment with no risk.
“Complex Event Processing solutions can help enterprise customers build and deploy low-latency and event-driven business applications,” said Arvind Krishna, vice president IBM Data Servers. “The combination of Coral8 and DB2 9 Viper provides the complementary data server architecture and seamless developer experience necessary to build all aspects of event-driven applications including high-volume event processing, easy integration of transactional data and largescale event warehousing.”
The Coral8 Engine and DB2 9
CEP solutions require high performance run-time execution and common development methods shared between core infrastructure software such as a CEP engine and database server software. The Coral8 Engine offers tight integration with IBM DB2 9 for seamless development, deployment and execution of CEP applications including: Native XML processing, high performance data caching, integrated DB2 language support and a parallel, asynchronous DB2 interface for event storage and warehousing.
