CORAL8 AND PCTS EXPAND PARTNERSHIP

Coral8 CEP Engine Enables Shorter Development Times; Faster Time to Market for Industry-Leading Solutions

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. & MISSION VIEJO, Calif., March 26, 2007 -- Coral8, Inc., a leading provider of Complex Event Processing (CEP) software, and Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS) today announced details on an expanded partnership between the two companies. Building on a pre-existing OEM relationship and effective immediately, PCTS will now integrate the Coral8 Enterprise Edition to support mission–critical, 24x7 event processing within its Amelior™ automatic patient and asset tracking software suite.

PCTS offers department-specific and enterprise-wide patient and asset tracking solutions used to locate, track and orchestrate the flow of patients, staff and mobile medical equipment. Healthcare providers rely on PCTS automatic tracking solutions to streamline care, improve patient safety and optimize department management. The company’s Amelior products operate in conjunction with infrared, RFID and Wi-Fi sensory networks to locate, track and communicate the location and care progression of patients in real-time.

Emergency and operating rooms supported by PCTS are 24x7, mission-critical environments. The Coral8 Enterprise Edition will support 24x7 operations through clustering for high availability and scalability, persistence and dynamic, “no downtime” query module and configuration changes. This adds to the dramatic development and product cycle time benefits PCTS has reaped since their initial use of the Coral8 Engine. Previously, PCTS relied on a custom-built event processing infrastructure within the Amelior product suite, PCTS switched to Coral8 Engine because it provided much greater event processing power and sophistication required by the Amelior applications while enabling faster development and time-to-market.

“After evaluating several options, it became apparent the Coral8 Engine was the best CEP solution available,” said Jeff Hastings, vice president, PCTS. “The advanced event processing functionality, easy-to-use programming language and native XML processing of the Coral8 Engine allows us to deliver new products to market faster” said Hastings. “The added mission-critical features of the Coral8 Enterprise Edition give us the required 24x7 operations our customers demand.”

“Enabling our partners to deliver new applications quickly is a critical part of our business strategy,” said Terry Cunningham, CEO of Coral8. “Software such as Amelior from PCTS powered by Coral8, can increase patient safety while simultaneously lowering operating costs. This serves as further validation that CEP will continue to increase IT applications’ value across all market sectors.”
