Coral8 and DB2 9

“The close–knit relationship between Complex Event Processing engines and database management systems requires tight integration between the respective development languages and run-time servers. The multi–faceted integration between the Coral8 Engine and DB2 9 gives customers the seamless product environment they desire for rapid development and scalable deployment of high-throughput CEP applications.”

Anant Jhingran,
Chief Technology Officer
IBM’s Information Management division

Complex Event Processing solutions often use a combination of infrastructure components including a CEP Engine, database and messaging software. Effective implementation of this solution requires tight integration between these products to deliver a rapid development environment and high-throughput run-time platform.

Coral8 and IDB have teamed to offer seamless, high performance integration between DB2 9 and the Coral8 Engine, allowing customers and partners to quickly build and deploy robust, high-throughput CEP applications.

Integrated Features

Native XML processing

DB2 9 pureXMLTM and Coral8 Native XML provide high performance XML data management and XML processing respectively. This common functionality allows customers to natively process XML-based streams in Coral8 and store XML formatted events and results in DB2.

High performance reference and historical data integration

The Coral8 engine supports high performance caching of reference and historical data managed by databases. This Coral8 interface is optimized for DB2.

Native DB2 language support

The Coral8 database sub-query feature allows programmers to write native language queries to databases. Through this feature, programmers can write native DB2 queries inside a Coral8 application that take full advantage of the power of DB2.

Event storage and warehousing

The Coral8 Engine offers asynchronous, parallel and batched writes, and transparent queuing of database transactions to maintain high throughput when storing events or results in databases. Developers can use DB2’s exceptional data management and warehousing capabilities for large-scale storage of events processed by Coral8.
